The heavens frown on Ernesford Grange

This was the scene, looking out of the bedroom window at around noon on Thursday 28th June. All the dogs on the estate were agitatedly barking, there was an electric prickle in the air, and we half expected the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to come riding by.

Welcome, everyone, to the Willenhall Cov Blog

This is my first post, so perhaps I had better explain my choice of title. I'm the secretary of the Willenhall Local History Group, based in South-East Coventry. At history fairs, my group were often baffled by queries about the history of locks and keys (or was it locks and quays?) We soon realised that there is a bigger Willenhall, in Staffordshire. Otherwise, I'll tell you something about this beautiful corner of South-East Coventry, 3.5 miles away from the city centre. A river runs through it, the Sowe, and it is bounded on the N.E. side by the London to Birmingham railway. This gives the area a sense of geographical isolation from the rest of the city, which contributes to its mysterious beauty.
